What precautions are you taking in the event of fires along the route?

To ensure we are safe from the threats of fire while on tour we will:

  • look at the weather forecast in advance and plan our riding during the day around this.
  • we will keep up to date with the latest local news to be aware of current situations. We will also be in contact with people in towns/communities that generally update us about adverse conditions - it's amazing how friendly and helpful people are.
  • we will not be riding if there is concern of fire in the area we will be cycling (we would discuss the issues in a group and decide to either reroute the bicycle tour or cancel it entirely)
  • have mobile phone coverage while on tour so in an emergency we would call a local fire brigade and arrange alternative transport for tour members
