Vic Pedal Power Team Bios

Ange could adequately be described by the vegetable Rainbow Chard! She is spunky, exciting and wacky, full of colour and life, and rather sweet... All she needs is some sun, water and lots of love and she is happy! As Co-Director and Vic tour member she is passionate about caring for people, and the environment which we share this wonderful world. Ange is all about having fun and embracing the daily adventures.
Anna grew up in the beautiful Adelaide Hills. She recently finished her degree in environmental studies and has since been living in Beijing volunteering for a small Chinese environmental NGO. In Beijing, Anna got about on her trusty bike and loves traveling, being outdoors, living simply and taking life slow. She is especially passionate about sustainable, healthy, wholesome, and socially just food.
Annie is an Adelaide based ecologist and aspiring educator. During the day she can be found peddling her way to the office, wielding a mouse and keyboard in defence of the environment, tending to the veggies in her 2m2 back paddock and being inspired by humanity. Annie feels privileged to be part of the tour and is looking forward to amazing discoveries along the way.
Belinda lives, studies, works and eats tasty vego food in Perth, WA. She's somewhere towards the end of an Arts degree and is looking forward to getting away from deadlines and into a bike saddle. She's also hoping she doesn't not-so-spontaneously combust from the direct sunlight on her pale skin...
Be loves getting out and about in the great outdoor, and is always up for a challenge or some kind of adventure. After relocating from Melbourne to Sydney- to study Speech and Hearing Science at Macquarie Universitiy - Be has managed to escaped the hustle and bustle of the “big smoke”, and found a soft patch of grass in the Blue Mountains (well a house actually). Here she studies hard, plays a little and laughs a lot! She can’t wait to share her ideas with the kids of Victoria… but is pretty sure she will be learning the most.
Candice currently lives in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and has recently completed a masters degree in chemical engineering with a focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions from large power generators. Running, hiking in the mountains, painting, playing the piano and reading are some of her favourite activities. She is especially excited to be exploring Australia for the first time with a group of motivated Otesha team members.
Cassie and her bike 'Luscious' are inseparable and have made many journeys including a peddle from Rockhampton to Canberra. Cassie feels that cycling tours and creative activism are powerful campaigning tools: "peddling the talk" and breaking down defense barriers. When Cassie is not doing activist work or cycling you'll probably find her in her backyard experimenting with her solar kitchen.
Celine is a friendly, easy going person, who is dedicated to try and make this world a better place... while having fun at the same time. She loves to travel and meet new people, taking photos and engaging in artistic endeavours, playing with fire, listening and dancing to music as well as doing yoga and learning about permaculture.
Dylan is well into sustainable spaces/communities, energy efficiency, making things with reclaimed materials, dancing in the sun to reggae on a sunday... and creative expression through all these things. Dylan is pretty excited about hanging out with some amazing folks on this tour, much like a little kid on Christmas Eve.
Julia hails from Canberra and is a project officer with youth sustainability project ACT otherWISE running sustainable consumption workshops, and volunteers for local environment-focused projects. She loves sewing, cycling, baking, share houses, veggie gardens, being vegetarian (and an aspirational vegan), DIY haircuts and helping create and sustain projects that inspire and equip others for collective change.
For the last five years, Kelsey has fully indulged her adventure seeking – working and roaming her way through six US states and over ten countries. Kelsey feels her best when she is outside- hiking in the mountains, adventurous traveling, bird watching, horseback riding, vegetarian cooking, and dancing!
Libby loves adventures, community and dreaming up crazy plans to bring people together to ensure life is never dull. On most weekends you'll find her cooking up a storm or tending the vegie garden. For the last few years Libby has actively been campaigning for fair-trade.
Matt is currently writing his PhD thesis in African history at La Trobe University while working as a part-time teacher at RMIT. Having lived most of his life in Sydney (graduate from UNSW with BA/LLB in 1998), Melbourne is too darn easy for cyclists; where are the death-defying feats of derring-do!
Unhappy studying a generic business degree, Meg took off around Australia picking fruit, camping out, enjoying the beaches and rainforests of the beautiful east coast. Travels and reflection lead to studying Geography and Environmental Science. Now she loves learning about and incorporating sustainability into her professional and personal life.
After volunteering in India at the end of last year Pip moved to Melbourne and changed career from pianist to student of social work. This year she has also been studying Buddhism at the Rigpa centre Fitzroy, working for a homeless men?s shelter, volunteering for Friends of Kolkata, and eating substantial amounts of chocolate!
Tash is a third year psychology student from Melbourne. She loves learning, dancing, bike riding, juggling, playing and listening to music, knitting, nature, and sharing time with family and friends. She’s a regular volunteer at Wholefoods – the fabulous vegan/vegetarian co-op restaurant at Monash University. She loves community living, meeting new people, making a difference and having fun :P
