BOB strikes again: Ararat to Marysborough (15/02/09)

Text to Be late in the afternoon on the 15th:
"Otesha crew experiences most eventful day so far:  Anna had a big stack with BOB this morning and is in the hospital with facial injuries.  She is ok, but at this stage, might not continue the tour.  It doesn't end there, Kelsey fell off stationary bike, Libby got 2nd flat tire, resource trailer's tire blew out [to be replaced by previously worn through, gaffa taped tire...poverty!], and Meg flew ejector seat style from her bike after making contact with BOBs tire!"

January 16, Marysborough
Ange rang out the wake-up call shortly after 7.  Even though I'd passed out mid-journal writing before 10pm, 9 hours didn't feel like nearly enough sleep.  The previous day had used up most everyone's energy reserves so we all appreciated a full night's sleep.  Dylan and Pip had stayed with Anna at the hospital in Ararat so I was ecstatic to see Dylan wheeling his bike into the Scout Hall 12 hours ahead of plan.  After a delicious muesli breakfast and an update on Anna and Pip from Dylan, we biked to the local Marysborough school to present to the year 5-6.  With over 150 students, we had a packed house.  Everything went smoothly and the kids bombarded us with questions at the end, wanting to know our names, how the trailers worked, how old we were, who was the boss, etc.  They high fived us on their way out and we all felt happy with the morning.
Anna is doing okay though is most likely going to miss the end of the tour so she can fully recover.  :( :( :(  Somehow, I think I was in denial when receiving her status updates because in my mind it just wasn't an option for her not to be with us for the last few towns of our journey.   But we all wish her a speedy, well-fed recovery and can't wait to see her during the debrief days in Mentone.  We love you, Anna.  And prepare to be bombarded with more hugs than ever before when we get to see you next!
Pip will hopefully rejoin us tonight or tomorrow as we head to Castlemaine.
Loads of thanks to Dita who stopped to help yesterday morning...giving Dylan and the bikes a ride to the hospital in Ararat and giving Dylan a ride back to us this morning.  Really, thank you so much.  We are constantly amazed at how generous and loving people have been to us during the tour.
xoxo,
Kelsey

Hang in there

Hi guys,
It's Nic here from the Brisbane to Newcastle tour.  Damn those Bobs hey! They seem to cause no end of trouble.  It's wonderful to hear the tone of your blog entries and how you are gelling as a team.  Good on you all for getting out there and having a go. Make no mistake, the work you are doing is rippling out across the country.
Much Love,
Nic
