eek! Missed this one out, sorry guys! (And 12/2 was a day off, so no blog times!)
What a day! 3 performances, 2 community groups, a workshop, and so much fun! We've been surprised at how energising the whole performing process is! We woke up sluggishly from amazing comfy beds and headed to the Stawell Secondary College, where we performed first to the year 10's, then the year 11's who got follow up workshops.
They were the favourite performances yet for many of us, with kids being quite responsive (with a little prodding), and many of the crew really filling into their roles. John, who's also a teacher at the school, showed us around the bush regeneration project being run by the school, and a wetlands system designed with the kids, who helped with the surveying and council applications! Very cool to see so many projects engaging school kids with the environment!!Our first try of our workshops went well, slightly hesitantly but encouraging. We met the college Social Justice over lunch, who were very inspiring for us.
Then free time!! Made sure to “walk the talk” and checked out the op shop, and support local (bike shop) business (which doubled as a pet shop!) On to a lovely dinner, chat and performance with FoE Stawell, and some people from the Uniting Church and Vinnies. Shared stories and support and we were very thankful for their generosity and moved by our ability to be an inspiration to pockets of amazing people working hard at being the change.
Rode back to Ange's with a beautiful sunset over the Grampians. I've used the word “inspire” way too much, but it captures the feeling of the day!
